One of my favourite things to eat is avocados, a habit I picked up in high school. Avocados are delicious and highly nutritious in value. Avocado is considered a super fruit because it is packed with vitamins, minerals, fibre and healthy fats. Forget the myth that Avocados will make you fat. Here are some reasons why you should eat avocado more often.

1. Avocados can lower cholesterol

Oleic acid is responsible for the avocado’s capability of lowering cholesterol levels. Avocados are packed with unsaturated fat and fatty acids, and have been scientifically proven to lower bad cholesterol levels while raising the amount of good cholesterol in your body. They’re also rich in vitamin E, which reduces your risk of heart attack and stroke.

2. Nutrient booster

It acts as a nutrient booster by helping the body to better absorb nutrients from the foods that are eaten with the fruit. A lot of vegetables and fruit salads which contain avocados in their recipes. That mixture helps the body absorb all the nutrients.

Avocados have a creamy texture and some people find them to be a great replacement for cheese, ketchup and mayonnaise. In the right ratios, you can substitute butter with avocado for healthier baked goods like cookies, brownies and cakes.
